Weather conditions: |
| On the islands and Murman coast spring was very late and cold, intensive snowfalls were noted even in early June. On the islands near western part of the Kola Peninsula snow melted in middle June (while average date is 27 May), in lowlands it retained till the end of June. At the eastern Murman coast snow in lowlands retained till the end of August. Summer also was cold, rains were not recorded in its second half.

Breeding conditions:
| At the Ainovy Islands wader nesting was successful, in spite of the later than usual breeding dates. Fall migration was also substantially delayed. Dunlins, Purple Sandpipers, Turnstones migrated in usual numbers; other species (Ruff, Spotted Redshank, Bar-tailed Godwit, Red-necked Phalarope, Little Stint) were apparently less numerous than on average.
