According to observations made in late June and early July summer was cold, in spite of supposedly early spring.

Breeding conditions:

Lemmings were not recorded, but Root Voles had average numbers at Ryrkarpyi Cape, where a pair of Rough-legged Buzzards also nested. Only singles of Arctic Foxes were met and their breeding not confirmed. Long-tailed and Arctic Skuas nested in tundra.
Interesting wader records include finding of Red-necked Stint nest, Ruff dawny chicks, and sightings of Dotterels and a Spotted Redshank.
