Breeding conditions:

Breeding density by Arctic Foxes was relatively high in 2005 (6 breeding dens per 100 sq. km) and average litter size was 6 pups per litter (range = 3-10 pups per litter).
 

Rodent dynamics:

Small mammal abundance was at medium levels at Karrak Lake in 2005 (1.7 captures per 100 trap-nights). All captures were Red-backed Voles. Collared Lemmings are common at Karrak Lake in some years (previous peaks were in 1996 and 2000) whereas Brown Lemmings are rarely encountered at Karrak Lake.
