Ice melted on the Onemen Bay and Anadyr River only about 17th June. The rest of June and at least first half of July were sunny, warm (the day temperatures regularly reaching +25øC) and dry.

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Breeding conditions:

Southwards from Anadyr City, an active Gyrfalcon nest was found, with one chick successfully fledging in beginning of July.
 

Rodent dynamics:

Vole presence was investigated while still in Anadir city, on an elevation, covered with tundra vegetation, some 15 km southwards from the city, about 1 km from the coast. The method used was small quadrates, with 120 vole traps, exposed for 24 hours and checked every 8 h. No voles were trapped.
